The Academic Scientific Research Computer Network of Armenia (ASNET-AM) is the National Research and Education Network (NREN) of Armenia. Created in 1994, ASNET-AM has many years of experience in Networking and Information Technologies.

The main aim of ASNET-AM is to provide state-of-the-art networking, computing and data solutions to the academic, scientific, research, educational, cultural and other organisations of Armenia and beyond, which are preliminary engaged in scientific and educational activity. Nowadays the network interconnects more than 60 such organisations in 6 cities and locations of Armenia, integrating them with the GÉANT pan-European network.

in cooperation with: IIAP

The Institute for Informatics and Automation Problems (IIAP) is the leading research and technology development institute of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) in the sphere of applied mathematics and informatics, as well as application domain of computing technologies in various fields of science and technology.

Since the foundation in 1957 (initially it was the Computer Centre of NAS RA and Yerevan State University), IIAP has played a remarkable role in Armenia through dissemination of culture in the fields of computer science and its applications.

additional intentions

IIAP and ASNET-AM will provide the network and technical support. ASNET-AM has LOLA equipment available.

The realization of this project will contribute to the intensification of Armenia's internal (between Armenian organizations) and external (between Armenian and European organizations) cooperation. It will also help to deepen the practice of using modern AV streaming technologies in Armenia, which will open new horizons for Armenian musicians, artists and scientists in the future. These are very important impetuses for the mentioned Armenian organizations to actively take part in the realization of the proposed Komitas project.

In 2019, Armenians around the world were celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of Komitas.

Even though the anniversary year is 2019, we will act in the spirit of Komitas Vardapet and perform the concert only under optimal conditions. This applies not only to the venues and the technical requirements, but also to the participating artists. For this reason we will not implement the planned project before 2021.
